✓ BUY IF

  • You want a genuine entry point into highly capable thermal vision without a premium price tag.
  • You need a truly compact, pocketable device — this is the smallest and lightest in the Axion Compact range.
  • You mainly scan at closer to moderate range and don't need maximum detection distance.
  • You want built-in Wi-Fi and Stream Vision 2 app support for remote viewing and easy footage sharing.

• NOT IDEAL IF

  • You need maximum detection range — the XG35 nearly doubles the XQ19's range.
  • You're regularly scanning dense bush or vegetation where a larger sensor helps distinguish targets.
  • You want the highest available image resolution — the 640×480 Axion models offer meaningfully more detail.

↗ CONSIDER

  • Axion Compact XQ30 PRO if you want better performance in poor weather without a large price jump.
  • Axion Compact XG30 if you regularly scan thick vegetation and need better target separation.
  • Axion Compact XG35 if maximum detection range for active hunting is your priority.
  • Vortex Veil 400 if you require unlimited lifetime warranty & total peace of mind.
Product Overview

The Pulsar Axion Compact XQ19 is Pulsar's entry-level thermal monocular offering reliable thermal performance and advanced features at an unbeatable price point. Designed for compactness and portability, it delivers genuine value without stripping away the features that make a thermal device actually useful in the field.

A 384×288 sensor with 17µm pixel pitch drives detection out to 750m, viewed through a frost-resistant AMOLED display. Base magnification runs 1.5–6× with 4× digital zoom, giving flexibility between wide-area scanning and closer target identification.

Built from lightweight aluminium alloy, the XQ19 is IPX7 waterproof rated and operates from -25°C to +40°C. Built-in Wi-Fi connects to the Stream Vision 2 app for remote viewing, firmware updates and easy sharing of captured photos and video, with 64GB of built-in storage.

Best Applications
Quality Entry-Level Scouting & Detection ★★★★★
Close-Range Game Observation ★★★★★
Budget-Conscious First Thermal ★★★★★
Active Hunting (Extended Range) ★★☆☆☆
Dense Vegetation Scanning ★★☆☆☆
Long-Range Detection ★★☆☆☆
Noctis application note: The XQ19 is genuinely the right entry point if budget matters and you don't need maximum range but still require quality and real capability — it's honestly rated lower on long-range and dense-vegetation scenarios, where the larger-sensor Axion models pull ahead. For close-to-moderate range scouting and detection, it delivers real thermal capability at the most accessible price in the range.

Detection range is the distance at which a human-sized heat signature can be detected (not necessarily identified) under favourable conditions. Sensor resolution, pixel pitch and display quality also meaningfully affect real-world image clarity — a longer detection range does not automatically mean a clearer or more usable image at that distance.
