Close Quarters to Extended Range. One Optic.

A low power variable optic gives you a genuine 1x red-dot-style close-range setting and real magnification for reach, on the same rifle, without switching optics. Nine models span this range — from a lightweight entry-level 1-4x through to the shortest, lightest flagship in the lineup, engineered, machined and assembled in the USA using US and global parts.

How to Choose the Right LPVO

A few things matter more than the rest when comparing LPVOs:

  • Top-end magnification — 1-6x and 1-8x cover most general tactical and duty use; 1-10x adds genuine extended reach at the cost of a bit more weight and length.
  • Focal plane — Second Focal Plane (SFP) keeps the reticle a constant size regardless of zoom; First Focal Plane (FFP) scales the reticle with magnification, keeping holdovers accurate at any power — a genuine advantage if you're actually using those markings.
  • Illumination — "daylight-bright" is a specific, confirmed claim on certain models (Viper PST, Razor and AMG lines) — genuinely visible in direct sunlight, functioning like a red dot at 1x. Other illuminated reticles are daylight-usable without carrying that specific claim.
  • Weight and length — every gram and millimetre matters when an LPVO is sharing rail space with other accessories on a duty or tactical carbine.

Turret style also varies meaningfully across this range — most models use low-profile capped turrets to prevent accidental adjustment in the field, so check what a specific model offers before assuming.

Turret style varies across the range: most models use low-profile capped turrets to prevent accidental adjustment, while some tactical-style models use exposed turrets with a zero-stop for rapid field dialing. "Daylight-bright" illumination — genuinely visible in direct sunlight, functioning like a red dot at 1x — is explicitly confirmed by Vortex for the Razor and AMG lines; other models offer illuminated reticles that are daylight-usable but not marketed with this specific claim.
