Full Protection. Full Mobility. Your Call.

A plate carrier and a chest rig solve two different problems, not one. Both hold your essentials where you can reach them under load — the real difference is how much of your torso they cover, and what that costs you in weight, heat, and freedom of movement.

Chest Rig vs. Plate Carrier: Which do you Need?
  • Plate Carrier - need armour plates covered, front and back? A plate carrier is built around plate pockets — it's the only option if ballistic protection is the point.

  • Chest Rig - already wearing armour, or don't need it for this role? A chest rig sits over or instead of a carrier, giving you MOLLE real estate without the extra bulk or heat of a full carrier.

  • Covert Carriers - want the lowest possible profile, even without MOLLE? Our Covert Plate Carrier has no MOLLE webbing and isn't modular — it trades kit-carrying capacity for a slick, low-visibility build suited to concealed or plainclothes wear.

  • Modular Chest Rigs - want a modular setup you can build up over time? A Chameleon or Mk1 Modular Chest Rig gives you a MOLLE platform to configure as your needs grow.

Every product page states exactly what's included — plates, MOLLE coverage, and any fixed pouches — and what it's actually suited to. Always check this before buying: "plate carrier" and "chest rig" aren't interchangeable terms even when they look similar at a glance.

Selecting the Best Camouflage / Colour for Your Needs
Warrior Assault Systems camouflage range — Black, Coyote Tan, Ranger Green, MultiCam

Every plate carrier, chest rig and pouch that we import across the Warrior Assault range comes in the same four colourways — Black, Coyote Tan, Ranger Green and MultiCam. Here's guidance on where each performs best.

MultiCam — Multi-Environment
Licensed under Crye Precision (US). Effective across transitional, mixed and varied terrain — bushveld, scrubland, farmland — where a single fixed colour would compromise concealment.
Favoured among military enthusiasts, the South African farming community, anti-poaching units, and buyers drawn to the pattern's distinctive look.
Coyote Tan — Arid & Open Terrain
Best suited to arid, desert and sandy terrain, where its lighter tan tone blends with dry, open ground.
Favoured among private security contractors, the South African farming community, and buyers who want a military-style colour without a printed camouflage pattern.
Ranger Green — Woodland & Bushveld
Suited to woodland, dense vegetation and temperate bushveld environments, where its darker green tone blends into foliage and shadow.
Favoured among anti-poaching operators working in greener terrain, and rapidly becoming a best-selling alternative to Black among urban buyers.
Black — Urban & Low-Light
Less about terrain camouflage, more about disappearing under dark clothing or blending into shadow — plainclothes, urban covert use, nighttime and maritime/CQB roles.
Favoured among urban buyers, and by CPF neighbourhood watch and community response groups who don't want their equipment drawing unwanted attention.

Every colourway across the Warrior range is NIR (near-infrared) treated or compatible, reducing glare and detection when viewed through night vision devices. Note: the Black range does not pass through the NIR treatment process itself, but its dark tone naturally lends itself to this same advantage.
