The Defender-ST Enclosed Solar takes the proven duty-and-competition sizing of the standard ST and adds a fully sealed, enclosed emitter for genuine protection against rain, dust, and debris — a real design difference from the open-emitter model, not simply an accessory addition.
Vortex's Auto D-TEC solar-assist technology delivers a genuinely remarkable jump in battery life: where the standard ST runs up to 25,000 hours on a CR2032, the Enclosed Solar model stretches to up to 150,000 hours by drawing supplemental power from ambient light — the longest runtime of any optic in this entire range, genuinely years of typical use without a battery change.
