✓ BUY IF

  • You want more magnification than the 3× model, still with a fully battery-independent etched reticle.
  • You want the option to piggyback a true 1× red dot (Vortex Viper or Venom) directly on top for close-range speed.
  • You have astigmatism and want an etched-glass reticle rather than a projected red dot.
  • You're running an AR platform in 5.56 and want holdovers built into the reticle out to 650 yards.

• NOT IDEAL IF

  • You want to pair the base optic with a magnifier — prism scopes are not compatible with Vortex magnifiers.
  • Your red dot of choice doesn't use the Viper/Venom footprint — RMR-pattern dots like the Holosun 507 or Trijicon RMR need an adapter, which isn't included.
  • You're running a caliber other than 5.56 — the BDC holdovers are specifically tuned for that cartridge.

↗ CONSIDER

  • Spitfire™ HD Gen II 3× if you want a lighter, more compact option and don't need the piggyback red dot capability.
  • Spitfire™ AR 1× if true 1× speed matters more than extended reach.
  • AMG® UH-1® Gen II if you want holographic reticle technology and native magnifier compatibility instead.
Product Overview

The Spitfire™ HD Gen II 5× extends the redesigned HD optical platform to a higher fixed magnification, striking a balance between the speed of a red dot and the precision of a traditional scope. Its etched-glass AR-BDC4 reticle remains visible with or without illumination, tuned to the 5.56 cartridge for holdovers out to 650 yards.

Uniquely among the Spitfire range, the 5× model includes a built-in MRDS mounting platform on top of the main housing — compatible with the Vortex Viper® 6 MOA (VRD-6) or Venom® 3 MOA (VMD-3103) red dots. This allows a true 1× close-quarters solution to sit directly above the 5× prism, giving genuinely flexible close-to-mid-range capability in a single mounted system.

12 brightness settings (2 night-vision compatible), a single-piece aluminium chassis with a hard-anodized matte finish, and full waterproof, fogproof and shockproof construction round out a scope built for serious use across hunting, tactical, and competitive applications.

Noctis application note: The 5× model's real differentiator is the built-in MRDS platform — genuinely useful if you want both extended reach and a true 1× solution in one mounted system, rather than choosing between them. Its base prism isn't magnifier-compatible, so the 'Magnifier-Paired Setup' rating here reflects only the piggyback red dot option, not a traditional magnifier pairing.

Magnifier accessories — Micro3X (3×, 2.64in/67mm eye relief), Micro6X (6×, 2.5in/64mm eye relief), and VMX-3T (3×, 2.2in/56mm eye relief — the shortest in the range) — pair with any red dot or holographic sight in this lineup, including the UH-1, for extended reach. They are not recommended for use with the Spitfire prism scopes, which already carry fixed magnification.

Reticle & Sight Picture

The AR-BDC4 reticle is etched directly onto the prism glass and built specifically to get the most out of the 5.56 cartridge — providing both rapid target acquisition and precise holdovers out to 650 yards, visible with or without illumination.

Because the reticle is etched rather than projected, it eliminates the starburst or streaking pattern that shooters with astigmatism sometimes experience with standard red dots. With the optional MRDS-mounted red dot in place, the shooter gains a second, independent aiming reference for true 1× close-range engagement.

Reticle: AR-BDC4, etched glass  |  Calibration: 5.56 cartridge, holdovers to 650 yards
